In 1968, a small abandoned church (built in 1941) was reopened as Simonton Community Church. We now call this building the Chapel. As was announced at our Annual Church Meeting on January 21, 2018, our Board of Trustees after careful research, discussions, and many prayers, entered into a project to refurbish the Chapel.
The project gave some much needed life to the Chapel and fixed some issues that were in great disrepair. Many of these issues had prevented us from using this historical building for several years. The main aspects of the project included adding handicap accessible access to the building, replacing the worn out air conditioning and heating system, as well as reworking all of the electrical service, which had become a fire hazard. The project also allowed the building to be leveled, the stained glass to be repaired, and the inside & outside of the building to get a much needed refurbishing, while preserving it for use for many years to come.
On June 6th, we celebrated SCC’s 50th Anniversary, and we were blessed to rededicate this beautifully renovated Chapel! We look forward to how God will use this historic chapel for his Glory over the next 50 years! The Chapel is now available for the church and school’s various needs, along with weddings, funerals, etc.
The scope and scale of this project made it fairly costly, so we are requesting any donations that you would like to make toward this project. Funds must be directed to our Building Fund for the purpose of the Chapel Project. If you have further questions about the project, please talk to Pastor Steve or any of our Board of Trustees.
